About Us

The Asheville Reformed Baptist Fellowship is a church plant of Grace Baptist Church of Taylors, SC. Our prayer is that this fellowship will be blessed by the Lord and that it will lead to the establishment of a Reformed Baptist church in the Asheville area. Grace Baptist Church sees this as part of Christ’s commission to the Church that we are to spread the Gospel and plant churches both near home (Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria) as well as abroad on the foreign mission field.

The Asheville Reformed Baptist Fellowship started as a Bible study in July 2006 with members from Grace Baptist meeting with people from the Hendersonville, Fletcher and Asheville area in Fletcher Park for an evangelistic Bible study approximately every two weeks throughout the summer. Starting in the fall of 2006, the meetings moved to the homes of the regular attendees. The Lord has blessed this work and an increasing number of families have been attending these meetings.

Our fellowship holds to the great doctrines of the Protestant Reformation. Reformed Baptists may be characterized by five basic commitments:

  • The Scriptures are the inspired, inerrant Word of God, and constitute our sole authority in all matters of faith and practice. The Second London Baptist Confession of 1689, our statement of faith, is a faithful expression of the doctrines taught in the Scriptures.
  • Expositional Preaching is central to our worship service. Faithful worship follows the pattern laid out in the Scriptures, in which preaching is pre-eminent. We highly value the ministry of music and other elements in our worship services, yet we seek to maintain the centrality of preaching.
  • The Doctrines of Grace, or the Five Points of Calvinism, describe how God saves sinners. We believe these glorious truths exalt our sovereign God and faithfully demonstrate that His salvation is all of grace, to the praise and glory of Jesus Christ.
  • Evangelism is the responsibility of every faithful church and every individual believer. In the Great Commission we are called to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ both in our community and around the world. Grace Baptist Church is an active member of the Reformed Baptist Mission Services (RBMS) and is involved in various ministries to win the lost to Christ in our own community.
  • Worship of God is approached seriously. We gather together to enter into the presence of the God who created the world and everything in it, and is “Holy, Holy, Holy.” Worship is to be reverent and heartfelt, carried out in spirit and in truth.
